My heart almost sunk this morning. I am in a matatu seated, in traffic. You all know how hectic Nairobi becomes when it rains. From the fare hikes, traffic, and if your roads are as bad as mine, potholes full of water, such that the driver hardly knows whether to drive left, right or center.
Stuck in mud..
Back to my story. When you are stuck in traffic, you stare outside at nothing in particular, or rather get busy with your phone. So as I was looking through the window, i see this small puppy, totally rained on, foraging in a dumpsite. To make it worse, he was stuck in mud, struggling to pull his petite body out of the layer of mud in the garbage site.
Hardly will you go a kilometer ….
I really felt for the poor puppy and wondered why the owner could let so loose with such a sweet creature. Is Irresponsible dog ownership becoming a norm in Nairobi? Hardly will you go for a kilometer without noticing a roaming dog.
I only wished i could pick him up and take him to a dog shelter. Lets hope that he is reunited with his owner.
