Animal cruelty is still rampant in our society and various animal welfare organisations are working day and night to ensure that this comes to a halt. To further emphasize on the end to cruelty to our four legged friends, there are strategies that we can adopt to ensure rapid behavior change in how animals are treated.
Such may include;
- Sensitization
Animal Welfare awareness is still low in the society. Hence, what the general public needs is sensitization in order to create awareness on how to treat animals.
Groups that require this civil education on animal welfare include; The Government, the media, the police, The Judiciary andThe General Public
- The Ministry of Transport should be strict in issuing transport permits to transporters- That could include coming up with specific vehicles that should be used in transportation of animals of different species.
- The veterinary officers should adopt the use of social media to educate people on proper animal welfare. Social media is capable of reaching a wide range of audience.
- The law holders should ensure a strict enforcement of laws that govern animal welfare
- Animal welfare should be made a regular agenda by Court Users Committee (CUC) in their quarterly meetings
