I am not a medic, but one thing i know for sure, there are a lot of wacky experiences associated with the medical professions, veterinarians not being an exception.
Animal bodily fluids landing in unfortunate areas on your body is not a rare occurrence. Imagine handling a pet and they suddenly throw an explosive diarrhea on your face. You would tend to keep calm because you have to do it anyway. You probably love them. Moreover, you have to put food on the table.
Getting up close with patients, who you can easily contract diseases from can get a little bit uncomfortable but the veterinarians still do it. Again, if you don’t do it, who will help these lovely creatures?
Being in the middle of a surgery and a fire erupts, do you dash out and leave your patient behind? How about the wrath of the angry owner who could come complaining that you left their pet behind to burn? Do you continue operating and burn all together?
More fire….Treating patients who do not end up recovering but passing on can be very disheartening to both the Veterinarian and the animal owner. How these veterinarians handle animal owners who throw tantrums to them as a result of rare occurrences of animal deaths is just incredible.
Hats off to all the veterinarians!
