There are various reasons as to why wild animals should not be kept as pets. Some of these include;
√ Wild animals take long to domesticate
By nature, wild animals are self sufficient and thrive best without human interference
√ Keeping wild animals as pets threatens their survival
Some of these animals may die during the journey, some may languish in backyards, and some may get sick and die because the owners do not have information on how to best handle them.
√ Wild animals spread disease
Wild animals easily spread disease. Wild dogs can cause rabies, reptiles and amphibians can cause salmonella.
√ Baby animals may grow up, grow large, and become difficult to manage.
√ Caring for wild animals require experts, special knowledge and the nutritional needs of animals may become difficult to meet.
