- There are currently 264 known monkey species
- Monkeys are divided into two; Old world species (Africa and Asia) , New world species( South America)
- A baboon is an example of an old world species
- Apes are not monkeys
- Some monkeys live on the ground, others on trees
- Different monkey species eat a variety of foods such as fruit, insects, flowers, leaves, and reptiles
- Most monkeys have tails
- A group of monkeys is known as a troop, tribe or mission
- Capuchin is the smallest species among the new world species
- Mandrill is the largest species with adults weighing up to 35kgs
