Animal welfare awareness is still low in the society. Many understand what animal welfare entails while some do not understand. We therefore need to raise awareness because animal cruelty is still rampant. Countless people abusing animals have been making rounds on social media but no action is taken.
There are different forms of animal abuse. Such include; neglect, confinement, overworking, bull fighting, elephant rides, circuses, factory farming, bush meat trade, ivory trade, trophy hunts etc.
Awareness on these types of abuse needs to be raised through use of blogs. My choice of using blogs to raise awareness on animal welfare was triggered by my interest and experience with web blogs in learning and business. Blogging is extremely useful in creating animal welfare awareness and brand awareness online. Incorporating blogs in your work provides instant exposure to your brand on various platforms on social media. Through use of blogs, the consumer understands who you are on a deeper level and recognizes your work.
In an increasingly online world where people learn about new products on the internet, be it google, bing, facebook, twitter and linked in, having regular content that can be shared on blogs is very relevant to staying in the very competitive landscape among your supporters.
With the growing technology in Africa, the explosive growth of social media in the last few years has been well documented, and for many, a life without Twitter and Facebook is inconceivable. It’s hard to believe that social media as we know it has only been around for little longer than a decade and it has already fundamentally changed the ways people communicate and interact with each other.
This is not only true for conversations with friends and family, but also, increasingly, for organisations looking to discover the value that social media can add to their brand awareness operations.
As World Animal Protection, using blogs to create brand awareness is a great idea. The most important way that blogging could raise brand awareness is that it will drive traffic to the site. Sharing fresh content on animal welfare on a regular basis will encourage potential supporters to spend time on the website. This can also contribute to to World Animal Protection becoming a champion among other organisations that deal with animal welfare.
There are various things one needs to consider when you decide to use blogs to raise awareness. First, you need to make a commitment to making regular posts, and for you to achieve this, you need to have an editorial calendar so you don’t run out of topics to blog on.
There has been a lot of bias on what people blog on. Very few blog on animal welfare issues. For instance, if I may take a case of Kenyan bloggers, most write on politics, fashion, entertainment. Those are the issues that are considered important in today’s lives.
Not very many people think that animal welfare could be as important, but it is actually important because it affects their lives directly. World Animal Protection could take this avenue and blog on animal welfare and protection in order to increase brand awareness and drive a great audience support their cause because clearly, this is a wide gap.
