The lion is known to be the king of beasts across most cultures of the world. This is mostly because of their appearance and partly because of its social structure of a pride and its role in the pride.
First, the lion is not afraid of other animals. They live in open spaces in the plains as opposed to other animals living in caves.
Lions are confident in their abilities to hunt. They dont save for food. They eat to their satisfaction and leave the rest. Any lucky animal that chances the corpse can have a free meal, and has the lioness to thank.
Other animals have demarcated domains but for a lion, the whole forest is his domain.
