When you visit the country side, you will not help but notice the beauty that comes along with having animals around the homestead. Animals always make the environment beautiful especially with the sounds they produce. Think of a cat purring, a cow mooing, a cock crowing, these sounds make a home what it meant to be.
It even gets more interesting watching animals go about their business around the homestead; the chickens perching as a way of expressing natural behavior, the cows feeding on the ever green grass, cats running after mice. And as the owner of the homestead picks maize to make sumptuous githeri, the chickens cant help but roam around him, just like children do when they want something from an adult.
What stands out for me are the refreshing crows from the roosters, especially in the morning. Interestingly, some of the old women dont own watches and depend on the cocks to crow so they know its time to do ABCD….The beauty that comes along with keeping animals is just unexplainable.
