Dairy farming in Kenya is diverse, ranging from small scale farmers to large scale dairy farmers. from those who produce milk for sale, and those who produce it for consumption.
A big deal to the Kenyan economy
With many Kenyans having ventured into the dairy farming business, our economy can only continue to stabilise. An increase in the supply of milk country wide means an increase in income, which is used indirectly in building of a nation, through payment of taxes.
A big deal to the consumer
Milk and milk products play a great role in balancing a diet. Milk is rich in calcium, which is essential in building strong bones.
It is also rich in protein, and proteins are known for their body building nature.
A big deal to the farmers
There are farmers who wholly depend on dairy farming to earn their income. Stories are told of farmers who quit their well paying jobs, to venture fully into dairy farming, due to the potential that this business has.
A big deal for the unemployed
The dairy sector has employed quite a number of people. From hiring people to clean the cow sheds, to feed the animals, to milk, veterinarians to do check ups, and labour in the production departments, for those with big dairy farms.
