How would you feel if you were stuffed in the middle of things? Things too hefty that you cannot move? Too stuffed that you can hardly breathe! And if you do, its a mixed breath of windy and dusty air that will not let you rest. As if this is not enough, you are placed on a carrier of a moving vehicle. A vehicle moving with a killer speed.
The scorching sun
The scorching sun you have to bear, the heavy downpours do not spare you either. Your legs are tied together, and the rope extends to the legs of your neighbour, and your loader assumes that the journey is set,not having to care the long voyage that awaits you. The potholes on our pathetic roads make you bounce back and forth, making you wish death on yourself. All these are sentiments of these beautiful creatures called chickens that we transport anyhow, without minding their welfare. Other animals also undergo this, but chickens are the most affected.
They too experience pain
Do people ever stop to think that animals too experience pain? They definitely do because just like you, their bodies are made of flesh and blood. Keeping this in mind, we should device better ways of transporting them, other than loading them on bus carriers, placing heavy luggage on them, to later transport them for very long distances.
Denial of freedoms
The amount of cruelty subjected to these birds is unexplainable. Hunger and thirst, pain and injury, discomfort, fear and stress of falling off the roof, and denial to express their natural behavior. All these amount to violation of their freedoms.
Huge gap
Despite our Kenyan government not have had included laws that govern the transport of chickens in our constitution, we should always ensure that they are properly transported, through transporting them in a healthy environment that does not violate their freedoms
